Scripture: Galatians 5:1-6,13

Christian Liberty

5 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.  

2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.  

3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is [b]a debtor to keep the whole law.  

4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.  

5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.  

6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

TOPIC: The Victorious Faith 

Scripture: 1 John 5: 1-5

Obedience by Faith

 1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—[a]our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

  1. The first proof of the new birth is believing that Jesus is the Christ. - verse 1
  2. Another proof of the new birth is obedience. - verse 2-3
  3. Evidence of our new birth is we are overcoming the world. - verse 4-5
